Fort Washington Park Greenway Description

The Fort Washington Park Greenway brings residents and visitors to Washington Heights right up to the edge of the Hudson. The mile-long trail begins near the pier at the end of Dyckman Street and heads south. Colorful plantings line the path, and the smooth asphalt makes for an easy stroll or bike ride. As you head south end, pause and enjoy stunning views of the George Washington Bridge. The trail parallels Amtrak tracks but regrettably, doesn’t get very far before it ends abruptly. Ideas have been floated to connect this trail to the nearby Hudson River Greenway to the south but they are as yet unrealized. That said, though brief, this is still a scenic and enjoyable excursion.
