Richard E. McDowell Trail

WOW! What a hidden treasure

November, 2021 by wwwknapp

I biked this trail on 8/14/2021 on a gorgeous 78° day. Despite the short length of this trail, it traverses over eight bridges in a span of 1.3 miles. The trail is completely paved in asphalt and is level except for a very short uphill ascent near its south end before leveling off and terminating at Clarks Lane. If I lived in the area, this trail would be one of my favorite spots to walk on a regular bases. Though all of the users that I encountered on the trail today were walkers or joggers, the trail is plenty wide enough for cyclists. Even though the trail is short, I would definitely recommend making the trip to experience this well-manicured and beautiful Trail!

An All Seasons Trail

October, 2021 by aj_genetic

I have lived near this trail for a lot of years and changing seasons. Whether enjoying a bike ride in the rain as the cool mist drizzles on your face and wets the earth, Or a stroll through the leaves as the colors change and the leaves fall all around you with family, Donning a pair of snow shoes or boots or even cross country skis, as the soft white flakes softly touch down, Running on a warm and sunny day, with a breeze cooling your sweat glistened body- All this and the pure clean air and bright blue sky Enjoying the outdoors and yet still being in a small town area with all its charm and novel Amish neighbors All this and more is why I love this trail Year round! Walking your furry friend through the changing seasons, Catching a glimpse of an Amish buggy as you go, or a group of Amish children playing-shy, but curious onlookers,

Kinzua Valley Trail

Found by accident

September, 2021 by sherris2020

We were camping at red bridge, and going to see the Pennsylvania elk. We were looking for some thing else to do in the area and saw this trail, so we brought our bicycles. This trail is awesome. We rode from our campsite at red bridge to the trail head and went 10 miles to the new covered bridge. I had to put my bike computer on so I could see how far we went, because they have added more to the trail from what we originally thought. I see it will be extended past the covered bridge eventually but we stopped there. Very scenic along the river. My husband was impressed at the construction of the bridges. The two by fours were laid flat together, so there were no nails sticking up. Some old bike bridges have broken off nails sticking up and hence flat tires on the bike. Really enjoyed this trail, will do it again. Lunch at historic Westline inn along the way. Delicious. Really enjoyed this trail, will do it again.

Oil Creek State Park Trail

A beautiful trail

September, 2021 by bardance96

This was our first time riding this trail. It was so peaceful and beautiful ride. At the North end is Drake Well that’s a must to see!!! They have a bike rack and very nice helpful people. We told “Vicky” that a tree was down on the trail and she let park rangers know to get it cleaned off the trail and thanked us for letting her know. We will be back!!!

Karl Boyes Multi-Purpose National Recreation Trail

Biking the Erie area

September, 2021 by sawbuck25

This trail is a beautiful loop around the peninsula state park, well shaded and plenty of water holes and bath facilities. For those that want to bike the Erie Pa area and have camping or rv equipment, I highly recommend Lampe campground in downtown Erie on the bayfront. There is a bike trail that connects the campground to the Bayfront connector trail. This trail will take you along the bayfront and has a designated bike path to connect you to the Karl Boyes trail around the penninsula. 34 miles round trip (that's stopping at some nice watering holes along the way.)

Oil Creek State Park Trail

Another Great Ride

September, 2021 by vicki1960

Annual Ride. Love this trail, wished had more time to ride several times a year. Always a great ride.
Trail is 10 ish miles in length and asphalt paved in very good condition. Though a few bumpy spots on occasion probably from the brutal Pennsylvania Winters.
Two main trailheads, one at the North end near Drake Well Park on the outskirts of Titusville. The other is at the Southern end next to the state park office in Petroleum Centre.
Also found a remote parking lot at the 5 mile marker at Miller Farm Road. It's several dirt roads to get to it.
Trail goes through the state park and is mostly shaded. It follows Oil Creek. Along the trail it's very quiet and peaceful. Usually see a lot of game but only saw one deer.
At the Northern end you can pick up Queen City trail which is less than 2 miles in length, also paved, and follow it to Titusville for services such as Dollar Stores, food places, etc.
