Pony Express Parkway Trail

Glorified Sidewalk

May, 2022 by aaronnorris

What they consider a bike path is a glorified sidewalk. There are no lane markings, no signage, and almost all the road crossings are poor visibility for the cars, and few or none are marked such that cars know there are supposed to be bikes crossing.

Not to mention that for most of this route there is a painted bike lane paralleling this 'bike route' on the road.

This should tell you all you need to know: most of the way riding on the road is safer than riding on this bike path.

Mapleton Lateral Canal Trail

we’ll do this again

April, 2022 by lynn.ogden42

This is an enjoyable trail with great mountain and field views and some very nice high-end back yards. Yes, there are a lot of gates and street crossings on the north half. There is an abrupt termination at the south end with no access. Don’t plan on entering there. It would be nice Connect it with trails going south and have access.

Pa'rus Trail

Great Easy Trail for Everyone

November, 2021 by rathgeber.max

Took this paved trail my first day in Zion. Was great with the baby and stroller and had great views and multiple chances to pause and see the river. It will have a bit heavy traffic but other than that it was great. Only hit 174 feet delta elevation change so definitely recommend for beginners, families / young kids , pets, just everyone. I can only imagine it’s the best warmup for the start of a longer stay.

Provo River Parkway

The trail is closed about a thousand yards west of the Lakeshore trailhead. Construction on a new bridge that's being built.

Tedious and Buggy

October, 2021 by abele40000

I started in Layton going south in October for a leisure ride, and my first few miles were just tedious with all the dangerous gates you have to virtually walk through...but the worst was the sea of gnats that covered me. It finally opened up a bit with fewer and less-trafficked crossings and fewer bugs, but of course I had to return... next time I'll drive to Farmington and head south.

Spanish Fork River Trail

Spanish Fork River Trail August 2021

August, 2021 by midj

First time riding this trail. It is a hidden gem. Well maintained with a few cracks and bumps. Trail closed at the far west end that circles the frisbee park. Careful on the tight twisting turns to the underpass. Highly recommend but hope it doesn't get too crowded.

Barney's Creek Trail

This trail was pretty short, but of course the beautiful mountains were visible, and there were some lovely parks, houses, trees, and schools to be seen.

Provo Canyon Bike Trail

Scenic but very poor condition. Had to avoid many holes and roots. Foot traffic was very congested at times. Had to avoid hordes of kids in packs running cross country!

Old Emigration Trail

Potential for Better

July, 2021 by acewickwire

Started at Jensen Nature Park with intent to ride the loop at south end of trail but lots of construction and confusing detours. Returned to Jensen Nature Park and rode north to W 300 N street. Looked like trail ended there, so turned around. My bad for not consulting map and would have seen left turn for short distance and then continue north. Oh well. There is some signage along the trail but only one sign post indicating Old Emigration Trail the remainders have other names for different segments, I guess. Anyway not a clearly marked trail and several places of construction on going. Trail surface was fine and plenty wide enough. Maybe at a later date if back in the area would give it another try.
