Tanglefoot Trail

A really good experience!

May, 2022 by swgross

We rode Pontonoc to New Houlka out and back on the first day and the next day rode from New Albany to Pontonoc and back. This is a very nice trail, well maintained with numerous “whistle stop” rest areas along the route. It was mostly shaded and travels through the beautiful Mississippi countryside. Some of the wooden bridges are a little bumpy if you don’t have suspension but this hardly diminishes the experience. All the towns along the trail have bough in to the trail network and are quaint and fun to explore. This is a must-do if you like rails to trails.

AMAZING HALL OF FAME TRAIL!

April, 2022 by thejake91739

On a perfect March morning, we parked at the Jackson Road Station and then pedaled NW away from Hattiesburg to first enjoy ten miles of a rural experience: farms, ranches, pastures, creeks, ponds, rolling hills, woodlands, and solitude. Easy pedaling and extremely picturesque!

Once back to Jackson Road, we continued east with easy, flat pedaling for about four miles for the opposite experience: a much more crowded trail filled with friendly people, the city of Hattiesburg, but a still beautiful tree lined path.

We traveled two thousand miles from Southern California to experience this Hall of Fame Trail, and we were not disappointed! As for a review of this five star trail, see the previous 70+ reviews. I can't surpass any of their superlatives!

Tanglefoot Trail

Flat and straight

March, 2022 by lb33558

Rode north from Houston, MS and stopped in Houlka, Algoma and Pontotoc whistle stops. Rode also from New Albany south to Ecru and experienced windy conditions and a dog chase but all worked out just fine. Trail is safe, well maintained, very flat and very straight. If you’re looking for a diverse ride this is not it. Loads of cow pastures and beautiful farm land. The days we rode there were very few people on it which was surprising for a spring sunny day. Had a flat tire and closest bicycle repair shop was 20 miles away in Tupelo. (Trails & Treads Bike Shop 5 stars.) We stayed 3 nights in the Trailhead Bike & Bed another 5 star experience! All in all we liked the trail and would recommend. We highly recommend the Bike and a Bed in Houston, MS. Really clever concept and appeared to be solid occupancy.

Even better than Longleaf Trace

October, 2021 by gordorad

This trail was awesome.

I rode from New Albany to Pontotoc on a misty, muggy, Mississippi morning. Great surface, and a very spacious feeling, even in the wooded areas. Encountered only three other bikes on my 38 miles RT. The scenery is ok, but the limited street crossings combined with a great smooth surface made this a favorite.

First overnight bike tour with my son

September, 2021 by aaron.j.walters

This trail is a gem. 45 miles of beautiful Mississippi countryside with smooth pavement and almost no interaction with traffic of any kind. My 7 year old son and his best friend switched every 3 miles between a pull behind trailer and a solo bike and made the entire way from Hattiesburg to Prentiss on the first day, and then returned the next day. It was an awesome introduction to bicycle touring, and by the end my son was asking if there were more trails like this that we could explore together. The mile markers at every mile are great motivation for young cyclists as well. What an amazing trail and experience.

Columbus Riverwalk

just what I needed

September, 2021 by 87jg7rb2rp

Working remotely and house sitting for my mom in Aberdeen. After a long week I needed to get out in Nature. This is an awesome well maintained trail. Only complaint is that you can’t sit in a bench and just look at the river. The undergrowth between the bench and the river is too thick. Other than that I did find some spots to get a great few. Highly recommend.

My family stopped off at New Albany on our way to visit relatives in Harrisburg, MS. The trail exceeded our expectations. The trail is excellently condition…first-class!

Renova Heritage Walking Trail

The Renovo Heritage Walking Trail is nothing more than a short path that parallels old hwy 61 for just over a quarter mile. Not in a very scenic area but a nice well maintained trail.

Crosstie Walk

The Crosstie Walk in Cleveland is excellent. The south section is peaceful and scenic while the north section is perfect for exploring downtown. One of the best small R2T projects we've seen.
