Jane Hague Way, which opened in 2018, was named for a former King County councilwoman. It's part of the larger Eastside Rail Corridor, a rail-trail project spearheaded by King County and the cities of Kirkland, Bellevue, Redmond, Woodinville, and Renton. The trail to be built on a former BNSF freight corridor is meant to connect these communities and tie into the region's existing trail systems.
At only one mile, Jane Hague Way already achieves this by serving as an important linkage between the Cross Kirkland Trail and the SR 520 Trail, which stretches west to University of Washington. Another 4-mile segment of the Eastside Rail Corridor, extending between Renton and Bellevue, also opened in 2018.
At the northern end of the trail is the South Kirkland Park & Ride (10610 NE 38th Pl.), operated by King County's Metro Transit. At this bus station, you'll also find bike racks and bike lockers.
