The Victoria Avenue Bike Path parallels a scenic parkway dotted with palm trees that was built in 1892 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The northeastern end of the trail offers a peaceful ride through charming Riverside neighborhoods. As the trail continues southwest, the views become more rural with stands of orange groves along the way.
The route also offers a safe and convenient way for students to travel as the pathway is in close proximity to Gage Middle School, Washington Elementary School and Harrison Elementary School. However, a short gap interrupts the otherwise continuous trail from Harrison Street to Tyler Street, so cyclists will need to safely merge into the parallel roadway.
Nearby parking lots can be found at Gage Middle School (6400 Lincoln Avenue), Washington Elementary School (2760 Jane Street) and Harrison Elementary School (2901 Harrison Street).
Nice easy trail whole family can enjoy, a couple of bumpy spots not real bad.
My wife and I rode this trail Sunday May 18th and just loved every minute of it. We are E-bike riders and I was impressed by the whole area and vibe where this is located. The trees and shade on the path made riding very comfortable, and the homes and farms there were just full of flowers and green vegetation. To me, it was like seeing Orange Country the way it use to be in the 60's, Orange and Avocado trees everywhere! The smells of the area were overwhelmingly sweet, clear and comforting. We loved the little farms and produce markets and came home with fresh honey, oranges and lemons. One amazing home there on this trail had a cozy little nook in front of it that offered a drinking fountain for humans and dogs as well as a free library for those in need of a free book. This trail offers a easy going paved bike /walking trail for easy going travel and another bike path along the road for serious bike dudes wanting to go fast. We got lost trying to find it at first but the easyest way to go is the 91Freeway of at La Sierra go up towards the hills and you will find the (trail starts) at Victoria and La Sierra. My trip meter on my bike said we went about 20 miles total. You can park at the stores on La Sierra/Ralphs/Stater Bros and ride up to the head of the trail or some folks we met parked at a school a little ways into the trail at Hawthorne Elementary at 2700 Irving St. Riverside. Afterward we eat lunch at an amazing Greek restaurant off of La Sierra called "Greek Street", it was amazing.
It's been a few years since my wife and I biked this path, but I always think about it this time of year whenever I smell the orange blossoms in my southern California neighborhood.
This is most certainly a slow, easy, ideal ride for a spring day. It's not too hot yet, the narrow path passes by some stately historic homes, and the aroma of the orange blossoms are absolutely intoxicating!
Consider leaving the path on the way back and riding up one of the side streets through the groves.
This is a beautiful trail. I started at Harrison near the end of the trail on the west end and went about five miles before I turned around. It's pretty flat with lots of shade. The only problem is the debris (leaves etc) that made it occasionally hard to maneuver. Probably a little tough for inexperienced skaters. Very nice though. Pretty part of Riverside.
My wife and I rode this trail today. Parked just past Central on Victoria. This path was delightful and everything I hoped for. It was a great asphalt path, clean, safe and had an alternate bike lane along the street adjacent to traffic. I had no worries about graffiti, strange people, etc. The view was terrific. Orange groves (can't wait to try this in spring when they blossom), lines of beautiful hedges, lines of roses, lots of palm trees, and other very large beautiful trees. It wasn't crowded for a Saturday morning. Some very nice homes along the way too. Anyway, the Rosanna Scott Memorial Bicycle Trail is a great family trail and I recommend it and will be doing it again.
I fond this a nice ride. Not to hard of a workout but a nice ride wth just enough grade to get your heart pumping. I like taking this path up to Central and back. Enjoyable ride.
