New Trail Reviews

Last weekend we did this so-called shared trail (bikes, hikers, horses, 4 wheelers). Unless you like to inhale the whiff of gasoline from ATVs and the din of their engines, avoid this trail like the plague. We had the bad idea of ¿¿doing this trail back and forth...I believe we must have passed at least 60 ATVs. If some drivers showed civility, by slowing down when they passed us, the majority demonstrated that the words civility and courtesy are not even part of their vocabulary. They make it clear to you that you are not welcome on THEIR path. The majority pass by you without slowing down and I do not recommend this trail for families with young children for obvious reasons. In addition, it is a very rocky trail that requires at least a hybrid bike with good tires, or even a mountain bike.

I'm trying to find a positive to this trail but even trying to be objective I can't find one. There are no infractrustures (no picnic tables, no toilets, nothing). I imagine my review is going to be deleted as it probably won't appeal to everyone but until then hopefully it helps other people not to waste their time on this tasteless trail.

The Columbia Trail is well maintained, clearly marked, very shady, with a slight uphill grade starting in High Bridge. We rode with hybrid bikes with absolutely no problem. There are a few rough patches near Long Valley but these are few, very short and easily traversed. The trail is very scenic and we definitely do it again. Great for kids even with the crossings which are not busy.

May 2022, we started in Lowell at Trailhead (parked at Creekside Park) and rode to Belding. Trail starts with blacktop then changes to crushed asphalt. Trail is in excellent condition for hybrid bikes. Beautiful countryside. This is a must-do trail! We’ll do Belding to Greenville and back next time.

The total one way distance from just east of Moscow to the end in Bear Creek canyon is 16 miles and is entirely paved. It is really fun, despite being uphill from Moscow but there is a "summit" halfway and then it is downhill both ways... The one odd thing we found is that the vault toilets are on the trail and not necessarily at the trailhead. We figured that maybe this was done to minimize vandalism. Despite this trail paralleling the highway, it was still alot of fun.

However, since it has been a few years since the last review, please note that the gravelled section at the end of the trail in Bear Creek Canyon is washed out. The paved trail ends and then there is a 10' section of gravel and then a steep gully down to the weeds and creek side. There is a hiking path that has been pioneered but it is not rideable due to rocks, boulders, sloughing and debris. It also does not appear that the paved trail will ever be built further as the cost of just reestablishing the railbed is prohibitive.

I never have been in this place before Is so nice, clean and secure. I would walk again definitely.

First of all this trail is very enjoyable and easy to ride. many great sites.
Second, I lost my wallet between Park and Ride Boscawen and just beyond the Webster Boat launch, near Hoyt road. If found could you notify wilton NH Police Dept. or email me at [email protected]
Thanks

Nice 3 mile ride, has a bike lane next to the oceanfront. Early morning rides are the best as it might get crowded later on in the day

I lost my brown wallet between Boscawen park and ride and just beyond Webster Boat Launch. If found please contact Wilton NH Police dept. or email me [email protected]

There's a huge homeless encampment between Meadow Brook Marsh Park and Meadow Homes Park on the east side. You're riding along then it's like a state park campground with dozens of tents in the meadow. Please clean this up as I didn't feel safe towards evening with the type of activities going on. What a waste of a beautiful trails and a slap to taxpayers. I wouldn't think of taking my kids through here. What a shame because it's one of the nicest trails in the area.

I park at the trailhead just over the border on Russel Rd. I frequent this trail because it's only 10 min. from my home. I enjoy riding through marshland and near the river to see the diverse foliage and wildlife. This trail does undulate a bit so your legs and gears are gonna get a workout. (but not too bad) This trail gives me the opportunity to ride pretty much as long or short a distance I wish. Some of the crushed gravel does get soft in spots, but I do believe it from when it floods on certain occasions. The trail does provide a few restrooms along the way. i do recommend this trail to anyone. Thanks.

I parked at the trailhead off of Keystone and was happily surprised there were toilets available. I had driven nearly an hour from Kenosha. The trail West started with a slight gradient, but nothing steep. The trail enters into what I would call a corridor of trees almost giving me the feeling of a tunnel. Gorgeous ride on crushed gravel. About 3 miles in you come to the end, BUT, if you take the road south just over the tracks and a quick right, you can pick the trail back up to completion at around 5.7 miles. From red barns to an overlook of water, this trail was spot on! I rode back past the parking lot to get to the Prairie Trail. Get ready for a nice hill to climb! (WHEW!) It is a 1.5 mile ride east to the Prairie Trail from the parking lot. I was simply amazed how nice this little jem of a trail is down here in Hebron. Thanks!

The Riggs Park portion is a nice ride smooth sidewalk that is wide enough for opposing riders to pass. The adjacent side streets around the park also have low traffic that is also easy to ride on. The portion on the North Main Street sidewalk is adjacent to a high traffic street with cars entering and exiting businesses and crossing the sidewalk. The north end of the sidewalk ends abruptly on the North end of a bridge and requires going over a curb to get on to the street. I have not ridden the loops that are east of the N main section. From the Intersection of Grand Street and Meridian there is a nice sidewalk that runs from Grand to 55th street on the East side of Meridian that is also very rideable. IMeridian does have a lot of traffic however.

Good trail to the zoo and Washington park. You can go all the way to Timbers stadium!

It's a great trail and can't add much more that what's already been said. The southern and western portion of loop is hilly with great scenery. The trail goes by downtown and close to several restaurants, bars, shops and ice cream places. I've ridden this trail in summer of 2020 and 2021 and most sections of this trail does not have shade trees and got quite hot in the afternoon. That is the only downside I can think of.

I started mid way on the Georgetown-Lewes trail and connected to the J&B trail right by the Lewes library. At first I had my doubts about this trail as it mostly followed housing developments that provided little shade but provided an immaculately paved trail.

After about the first two or so miles of easy to follow trail riding though developments the J&B started to surprise me with a gravel trail winding though salt marshes and a heavily wooded area. Both of these offered plenty of shade and a wonderful chance to get away from the built environment.

I ended at a park in Rehoboth Beach where I rode my bike about a mile on a side street to the beach to take a quick stroll. The trail is in near perfect condition and it is very easy to follow with adequate signage to keep you on the trail. I would caution riding during high heat as I'm sure the section though the housing developments would be brutal due to lack of shade.
