The Northerly Island Trail offers access to a vast, natural oasis in one of the largest cities in America. Chicago’s Northerly Island—actually a 91-acre peninsula—was designed by Daniel H. Burnham, the architect of the 1893 Chicago World’s Fair. Formerly Meigs Field airport, this park-like setting is now home to a world-class music venue, sculpture installations, bike and foot paths, and some postcard-worthy views of the Chicago skyline.
The paved pathway winds along Lake Michigan, Burnham Harbor, and Daphne's Garden, which offers unique public art. You can also easily connect to the Chicago Lakefront Trail to head into the city.
Parking is available at Adler Planetarium (1300 S Lake Shore Dr.) and along the eastern shoreline of Burnham Harbor.
