Located in the west side of Illinois' second largest city, this flat, straight bike path sits on the side of Orchard Road. The trail passes by commercial, residential and natural areas, and crucially, connects residents to the Virgil L. Gilman Trail, the popular rail-trail which in turn connects to the Fox River Trail, which stretches 45 miles from point-to-point. In that way, this unassuming sidepath could be the start of a trail adventure for you.
The Virgil Gilman trail intersection happens at Prairie Street. The Orchard Road path also meets a local off-street path paralleling Indian Trail Road.
There is a parking for the Virgil L. Gilman Trail on Prairie Street, just west of the Orchard Road intersection.
