The Preservation Path is a two-mile paved trail in the community of Matteson, Illinois. The path begins on Vollmer Road and terminates at the Old Plank Road Trail. The trail is paved with center striping in parts. There are access points to the trail from the residential subdivisions it passes through. Residents can use the trail to reach Oakwood Park at 207th Street, as public library on the same property. Oakwood Park is a 10-acre neighborhood park with a playground, sports facilities and a garden. The path also provides a non-motorized route to the businesses including chain restaurants and banks, along Lincoln Highway (US Route 30). Past US 30, the trail takes a shaded course south to meet Old Plank Road Trail which is over 20 miles long, connecting Joliet to Chicago Heights.
There are minor access points from the residential developments along the trail. You may be able to park at the Matteson Area Public Library (801 School Ave) but be sure to obey any posted signage.
