Beaverbrooke Park Trail Description

Covering the majority of the northern side of the small suburban community of Grimes, IA, the Beaverbrooke Park Trail offers a lovely paved route along the tree-lined path of an irrigation ditch. Connecting to several city parks and numerous neighborhoods, the trail is perfect for getting around the city off-road or getting out for a pleasant stroll. The northern end of the trail is situated at a sports complex and park, offering restrooms and a picnic area. Moving south, the trail connects with the sidepath alongside James Street, a wide path that accommodates cycling and pedestrians traveling in and out of town. Following the ditch, the trail continues south and intersects with the Lions Park Trail, offering access to another city park and shopping areas at the southeastern side of town, before continuing on into Beaverbrooke Park. Playgrounds and more opportunities for picnicking are available in the park; past the park, the trail branches into two paths - one turns south to provide a route to W 1st Street, while the other heads west to the outskirts of town. A handy amenity for locals, the Beavebrooke Park Trail also forms part of a nice little trail system that visitors can use to easily explore the breadth of the small city.

Parking and Trail Access

Parking is available at the Grimes North Sports Complex on the trail's northern end, accessible off of NW 27th Street just west of the intersection with N James Street.
