Harriet Island Regional Park Trail Description

Harriet Island Regional Park offers a beautiful recreational space along the Mississippi River in St. Paul, just across the river from downtown. A paved trail runs the length of the park spanning just shy of a mile. Picnic tables, a playground, and restrooms are available within the park and trail users are treated to views of the river and the city’s skyline. Travelers can also continue into the neighboring Cherokee Regional Park to access more amenities.

The Harriet Island trail begins at the Wabasha Street Bridge and travels southwest to its end at the Smith Avenue Bridge. Trail users can cross either bridge to reach the Samuel H. Morgan Regional Trail, which traces the Mississippi River's opposite bank.

Future plans call for connecting the trail to the developing Robert Piram Regional Trail, which in turn is part of the larger Mississippi River Trail, a network of interconnected trails that will one day reach from Minnesota to the Gulf of Mexico.

Parking and Trail Access

Parking is readily available in the Harriet Island Regional Park (200 Dr. Justus Ohage Blvd., St. Paul).

Harriet Island Regional Park Trail Reviews

Running with a view

It’s a nice escape from the city, but with the view of it. I like that there are restrooms, water fountains and bathrooms. There is also a playground in the middle of the trail, if you’re a parent this is a good place to workout and have fun with your kids as well!

Stop and see

Nice little park on the south bank of the Mississippi. Lots of interesting items to see and observe. Feel free to venture into Lilydale as it adds a lot more trail to explore
