The Northern Link Trail provides a pleasant walking and biking experience in Faribault County. The hard surface trail forms a V-shape, starting at the Two Rivers Park parking area in the east and heading west through North Alexander Park, a community park on the banks of the Cannon River Reservoir that hosts a range of athletic amenities. For a significant portion of the trail, it overlooks the lake, providing uninterrupted views of the water. Picnic tables invite users to stop and enjoy the setting. At the end of this stretch it pivots north, running along the edge of the ball fields of North Alexander Park.
Back at the Two Rivers Park trailhead, a bridge takes users south to connect to Straight River Trail, an 8-mile multiuse path connecting a number of parks.
There's plenty of parking to be found in North Alexander Park (1816 2nd Ave NW, Faribault, MN 55021). The trail is along the park's southern edge, parallel to Alexandra Drive. Along this road are multiple small parking areas overlooking the reservoir.
The Two Rivers parking area is across 2nd Avenue from Alexander Drive.
