The Rum River Regional Trail in Anoka, the trail stretches near three miles, including two-short on-road segments. The trail begins in the Akin Riverside Park, at the intersection with the Mississippi River Regional Trail enters Anoka. Where the latter path continues southeast towards Coon Rapids and Fridley, the Rum River Trail heads north along its namesake river. The trail goes through downtown Anoka, connecting to civic destinations including City Hall. The trail passes the dam on Rum River and through Riverfront Memorial Park, and then continues along the east bank of the river. From there it emerges onto 4th Avenue, and users can use the sidewalk to bridge the gap between the trail segments.
The trail picks up again on 4th Avenue across from Johnson Street and it winds its way back to the east bank, in some places getting close to the river's edge. The path takes a meandering route north, crossing the Central Anoka Regional Trail in the process. Ducking under Bunker Lake Boulevard, the then trail comes to an unceremonious end.
Park at the Riverfront Memorial Park (2201 2nd Ave, Anoka).
This trail follows the edge of the rum river from just North of Anoka HS to the mouth of the Mississippi River. It is curved with lots of up and down. Note the three Cottenwoods that marked a bend one river around half way. They are reminders of the the old paper mill days.
