This park is a great place to walk and play with your dogs unleashed! It’s huge and even has a pond where your dogs can swim. There’s a big play area as well for the dogs to hang out and play at fetch! The trails are nice as well! I highly recommend this park!
Nicely maintained trail, but way too many crossings for a decent pace bike ride.
Rode this trail starting at Carryville towards Durand in early May. The services were not yet open. You can park, but the toilets were closed and the water fountains were decommissioned. The path was bumpy and poorly maintained. I was riding on 700x32 tires- passable, but be sure to bring a repair kit as there is a high risk for punctures. It would have been a much more comfortable ride on either a gravel bike or a hardtail.
I had a hard time reconciling the $5 registration fee for this path. I understand that services (toilets, water) cannot operate year round, but this should be made very clear on the WI DNR site- and would be even better if they didn’t charge the fee until the services were in operation. Hailing from MN where many well-serviced and well-maintained paths do not incur a registration fee, it was very disappointing to pay $5 to ride on a cruddy path without open facilities. I had a much more enjoyable ride on the Old Abe trail.
The path is paved but in need of repair. It is fine for walking and perhaps running. Watch your step. It's a little rough for biking. The trail runs along McKnight Road, as the name implies. It's not very scenic. It can be loud at times.
This trail is still closed at glenwood. When will it reopen !!!!???????
Today was 60 degrees, the warmest day of 2022 so far. Got out there to run. Lots of other people using the trail. Beautiful overlooks! The path into Eden Prairie from Chaska is largely unpaved. Some snow and ice still covers the ground.
This is the best trail in the Rochester area- only occasionally have to cross a lightly used road. Great natural surroundings with no close parallel highway. Path is pretty straight and level, and at 12 miles in length it’s the longest in the area. I Highly recommend it
I’ve been using this trail across the Saint Croix River for 40 years and every time I have to stop in the middle and look north all the beautiful islands and sailboats moored in front of Hudson. The trail is next to I94 so you’ll have noise but it’s worth it.
Agree with other reviewers. This is a poorly marked trail. Put some signs up showing where to go! We started downtown and that didn’t work. Maybe if you start at the falls you will have better luck.
We start from Gale Woods Farm and bike West to trail end at Babcock Avenue in Lester Prairie, where trail becomes ATV trail. Tried biking that unpaved part but it is full of the ballast rock from former railroad which made for bad ride. Trail section in Carver County has some bad pavement sections, but otherwise a smooth and flat trail. Near Lake Waconia a family has created a fantastic trail stop on their hobby farm with playground type equipment for the kids, animals to pet and feed, and benches to relax on. The best part is they have a refrigerator and freezer where you can buy a cold bottled water, popsicles, or Schwans ice cream bars for 50 cents to $1.00. We always stop to buy ice cream, pet the goats, cats, and miniature horses. Bring some nickles and you can buy corn to feed the animals. Stop in one of the towns along the trail to eat - we have a favorite in New Germany that has an outdoor patio and great pizza.
Would be great for biking or running, scary at many pets for rollerblading
